A Small Leap Forward
Why the next small step matters more than waiting for a big moment.
Most of my favourite things started as something small I almost didn’t do. A message I nearly left unsent, a sketch I nearly threw away, a weekend project that turned into a year.
What they had in common was not ambition. It was a moment of mild discomfort, a quiet voice saying this is probably nothing, and a decision to do it anyway. Small leaps rarely feel brave while you take them. They only look that way later.
I’ve stopped waiting for big moments. Now I look for the next small leap: one step slightly past comfortable, taken today rather than someday.
It might be sending the email, publishing the rough draft, or asking the question I’m a little embarrassed to ask. None of it changes much on its own. Stacked together over months, it changes almost everything.
